Early Modern and Literary History EDITOR

While I am originally from the labyrinthine world of English Literature, I have found myself working on my second Master’s Degree in History at Lancaster University, this time in Digital Humanities. I am a dedicated early modernist with expertise in Shakespeare and his contemporaries, and have dabbled in the colourful world of authorship attribution. An area of fascination to me is the dramatist Ben Jonson, whose unique path through playwriting altered the landscape of early modern drama, print culture, and publication, the historical ripples of which affected his fellow playwrights. My current research aims to explore the impact of mythological characters upon early modern playwrights and examining digitally how they in turn shaped these characters in later periods. Looking beyond print, I have a great interest tracing history through pre-modern manuscripts and have proficiency with palaeography and codicology.

Studying history through the combined use of computational and traditional methodology is a great passion of mine, and I hope to assist historians in becoming more comfortable with the digital. Additionally, I have had some experience with linguistics and consider that multidisciplinary scholarship can be incredibly beneficial to the pursuit of history.

Along with submissions on early modern subjects, I welcome pieces from many historical periods in which literary history, literary figures or manuscripts are involved.
