David Gott
History of Psychiatry Editor

Hello.
I'm David, and I'm a part-time PhD student at Lancaster University studying the history and philosophy of psychiatry focusing on the long nineteenth century. Previously I have studied History, Law, and Politics at Lancaster University. I also taught History at King William's College on the Isle of Man.
My research has included perceptions of domestic abuse and the legal rights of victims during the nineteenth century, childhood migration schemes, and atypical workers rights. I cover the long nineteenth century as well as modern philosophies regarding mental health, harm, well-being, and perceptions of sickness and mental health over time. In a broader sense I am interested in working on anything to do with attitudes and perceptions, including work challenging traditional or accepted perceptions of the past.
I have particularly enjoyed working on articles about the occult and the paranormal, as well as environmentalist discussions. I would also be particularly keen to work on anything arguing from a socialist or left wing position.
